Best way to get from Bryce Canyon to I-70

Which is easier on a gasser and my DW who?s afraid of heights. Not worried about time difference. 12 to 29 to 15 to 70 or 22 to 62 to 72 to 70?
 
I self-censored the post you replied to, it was insensitive and I apologize.  Here's Take 2:

Don't go north on Hwy 12 - between Escalante and Grover there's a stretch called the Hogback between two plateaus that's breathtaking but not for the altitude challenged.

I'd go back out to the west, then north on US 89.  It mostly follows the Sevier River to I-70.

Lou, we did as you suggested and what a nice road. Nice scenery and not congested.
