Something I miss from the olde country is the spontaneous singing at a pub:

I'm used to hearing it sung by a Welsh male voice (4-part) choir, but these young folks did a nice job; Likely members of a mixed choir. Wish I could have heard the rest of the hymn on YouTube.

Although I've sung and listened to this hymn for most of my life, it surprised me to learn it began as an English language gospel song - see Wiki:

FWIW when we used to host visitors from Wales, we'd always go to a "British pub" in the Bay area, and would inevitably break into song.
 
I?ve always enjoyed when I was out and other people would do that, but there ain?t enough liquor in Texas to make me sing in public.
 
Not the same as spontaneous pub singing, but Beer Choirs are a thing in some areas. They started in St. Louis, and there are ?chapters? across the country. The one in my town meets randomly about once a month at various local breweries or pubs and sings mostly old German and English drinking songs while drinking nice beer. Fun singing in a group, which is something I miss. Check out the national group for information on chapters need you.

Hahaaa  I don't think they would ask me, they'd just throw me out on my keester.
 
In areas where German Heritage is strong, there are Maennerchor Clubs, basically sing societies.  Wherever a few members gather they are likely to burst into song, especially with some liquid encouragement.  You will see Maennerchor Clubs in PA, IN, northern OH, and parts of NY.
 
I was at a sports bar in downtown Boston and they played 'The Rodeo Song' on the sound system.  Most of the patrons there sang along with it.  The group I was with was amazed/disgusted that I knew the words.

 
Yep, thats a rare these days. It makes instant magic atmosphere when it happens. But its so hard do it on ones own ?
