New to RVing, first time to the RV Forum. I am looking for some information with some recommendations on RVing with a mobility restricted co-pilot. My lady can walk but can not do stairs. I have been looing on other websites looing for a handicap accessible rv to first rent, then possibly to buy a pre-owed one. Very limited info out there on the internet unless I've been looking in all the wrong sites. Any help/recommendations is appreciated.  Safe miles and memorable trips.

Hi, welcome to The RV Forum!

If your lady just needs help climbing stairs, you may not need a fully handicapped accessible RV, how about a standard RV fitted with something like this?

If she needs wheelchair access while inside, Winnebago offers custom modifications:

YouTube has several videos, search for Accessible RV.

I don't know if you will be able to find a handicapped accessible RV to rent, that's kind of a niche market.  If you don't need full accessibility while inside the RV perhaps a standard rental motorhome with a temporary ramp at the entrance door would let you give it a try without investing in a lift.

Again, welcome to The RV Forum, I'm sure others with ideas will be along shortly!

There are a wide range of handicap accessible motorhomes, ranging from seat and wheel chair lift systems than can be retrofitting to most motorhome doorways, like https://www.startracksmobility.com/compact_lift.html

To full dedicated wheel chair accessible units, with dedicated wheel chair lifts, roll in showers, grab rails, wheel chair width aisles, etc.

The top of the line probably being Newmar's Mobility line up https://www.newmarcorp.com/wheelchair-accessible/ which they have been making for a number of years, a few used ones  are listed on rvtrader.

I just read in FMCA's Family RVing a review of Newmar's Ventana model that is designed for people with limited mobility, including such things as no cabinet under the bathroom sink, roll-in shower, shower seat that folds up if not needed, etc.  It looks like a thoughtful addition to their lineup.

We have been using a chair lift mounted inside our door we purchased from:  http://www.coachlift.com/rv-lift/ in 2014.  The nice thing about this lift is it lifts you all the way up to the inside floor level.

The Burr lift takes you to the bottom step in the entry door stair wheel.

BTW I have our Burr RV lift I removed from our former Class C motorhome in 2014.  If you are anywhere near San Antonio, TX, send me a PM (Private Message).  You can have the lift for a nominal price.
