2010 Chevy Silverado towing a TT (9000 GVW)

We are looking into getting a 2018 Highland Ridge Ultral Lite (3310BH) and i'm not sure if my truck is big enough to pull it.  We will be on the west coast traveling for about 6 years (military).

Truck specs:
1500 Silverado 4X2 3.42 Towing package 5.3L
Gross Combined Wt Rating 15000  lbs  10000.0 min 16000.0 max
Dead Weight Hitch - Max Trailer Wt. 5000  lbs  4700.0 min 5000.0 max

Is this going to be to much?

A 9000 lb trailer plus passengers and gear in the truck are going to stretch that 9600 lb max tow to the limit.  I think you should weigh the truck with the usual passengers and such onboard, then subtract that actual loaded weight from the 15,000 lb GCWR. The result is the true max tow for that truck (despite the the hitch ratings).

I pulled a 7600lb 28ft trailer with a 2010 silverado max tow and a 6.2l got 4-6mpg and it struggled and. I almost got blown off the road in a crosswind pulled the same trailer with a 08 gmc with same trailer package but the Vortex max it was no better

I assume this is an Open Range UltraLite.  The specs say 9,000# GVWR and almost 7,000# dry wt.  This means a tongue wt of 900# - 1080# (10% - 12% of GVWR).

What is the PAYLOAD for your truck, shown on the yellow placard on the driver door latch pillar?  As stated, that payload must be enough to handle the 1000# tongue wt, a 80# WD hitch, all passengers and gear in the truck.

As Gary said, that max trailer capacity of 10,600 is a generous number.  It assumes NO OPTIONS on the truck and ONLY ONE 150# passenger.  The weight of all installed options, added passengers and cargo must be subtracted from this number.

As Steve said, it may get the camper from point A to point B, but you will not be happy with its' performance.  If the family will be traveling in another vehicle, this will help, but the weight situation remains..
