Where ever we park it!
We are at the Route 66 RV Resort and Casino in Albuquerque NM. When we pulled in yesterday, we noted that several beautiful Entegra's were all grouped together in the park. We were told it was an Entegra rally that was here for the balloon festival. One of them was parked right across from us, a pretty new looking rig.

This morning while having coffee, the guy in the Entegra is preparing to leave. The rig pulls out with the wife driving, and he stays in the site with the car and a large black Lab. It was curious that they didn't hook up the car before leaving, but whatever. A few minutes later as the Lab is running around loose and the guy is standing by the car, the Lab that is now wandering in the unoccupied site next door, stops and takes a major dump. The guy is standing there watching the dog, and when the dog is done, he loads the dog in the car and drive off, leaving the pile there. We were shocked to say the least. If I had pants on I would have ran out and yelled at the guy. By the time I got out, he was gone.

I took our dog for a walk and talked to one of the other Entegra owners. He was pretty miffed as well, but he didn't know the guy. He recommended I go to the office and inform the office staff, which I did.

Too bad those people still exist. They give all of us pet owners a bad name.

We stayed in the same park (in Edgewood?)a few weeks ago heading to Yosemite.  The park manager seemed to encourage dogs to roam freely if they were accustomed to it.  Doesn't excuse the owners behavior.

Yes, they do.  I know we've all gotten the memo on this by now so people not cleaning up after their dogs cannot claim ignorance and are doing it, apparently, out of a complete lack of consideration for others.

How can a person let their dog do its biz and simply walk away, expecting the rest of us to either deal with or be forced to live with it?  It's frustrating, to say the least.

It's true. And when I spoke to the other Entegra owner, he wasn't happy about it either. As a member of their rally, it casts all of them in a less than flattering light. As it turns out, when I went to the campground office to report the guy, the other Entegra owner had already been there.  It helps to restore my faith in RV'ers as a whole.

We haven't begun our RV life yet, but what I've gleaned so far through forums, research, etc., about RV people is that they are, on the whole, responsible, earth-friendly people.

The consequence of the behavior is becoming more common lately. Our park has instituted a policy of DNA samples being required for all dogs. The fine is then $75 for the first violation. Some have paid several. But the result is a VERY great improvement. Haven't seen a violation this year.

You can't fix stupid, nor inconsiderate. We like to go to the Oregon coast, and often the path to the beach leads through the dunes on which it is difficult to walk without stepping in a pile of poop. It is becoming more often that I need to patrol my site when I arrive to ensure there is not poop I'll step in.

Some parks we visit have rules that insist people take their dog to the dog run to poop and pee, and I appreciate that - it is kind of nice to be able to walk on your grass without worrying about stepping in dog elimination. I'm still not sure why some dog owners think they need to go to their neighbor's yard to allow their dog to poop rather than on their own.

Evidently there will always be those people that think rules apply to everyone but them.

Narcissism and entitlement at its finest. This is the "better them than me" attitude at work. The only way to reduce the frequency of it is to call them out on it. You could theoretically "gift" it back to them, but that comes with its own set of consequences.

It's so they don't want to step in it and bring it into their RV.

Put it in a small paper bag, twist the top, light it on fire and place it in front of their door on the ground of course then knock on the door.

Ah the old dog poop ding dong ditch...

We travel with our Shih-Tzu's. While their business is rather small and compact, we do pick up after them. I don't want to step in it. It just as bad as stepping in gum. Fortunately, I have them trained not to leave our site/yard. They don't want to step in it either, so they take care of business near the road or near the woods, on the outskirts of our site/yard.

When we pull into our site they find any remains from other animals that were there before us, we clean it up. Shouldn't have too, but do because I don't want to step in it either.

An old Halloween trick from our high school days.  Did it once (dog poop) and regretted it ever since - I hope I fixed stupid with that one.  But the 'victim' didn't bite anyway, just took a broom and swept it off the porch.

Everytime we pull into a rest area or overnight site we take the dog out for a walk (with poop bag at the ready) and she always manages to find the area with the most piles left on the ground.

Yep - it's the doggie equivalent to scrawling "Kilroy Was Here" on a wall.  Lets other doggies know she was there.  Males pee on a fencepost along the way to do the same thing.

There's no excuse really - just about every park we visit has a Mutt Mitt station, and easy disposal cans.
