I am needing to replace the motor on our awning. Had it looked at and tech deemed the motor toast. When we first experienced the failure, I tried to retract it manually. I was to walk it in after undoing the hex head screw on the front of the awning tube and hold onto the strap (had to fabricate one) and walk it in.
Well, there was no retracting tension which begs the question...yes the motor is bad but does this indicate a problem with the spring tensioner on the other end?
And not a cheap repair...have found the motor available from $475 to $595 with about 1.5 hours to change out.
