Won't be camping with you guys, because we wimped out and got a reservation at a full hookup park for our first time in Q.  We're scheduled to be there Dec 1st through Feb 28th.  I thought about just moving out to the desert during the rally, but have heard horror stories of no spot to go back to, even when paid for in advance.  We'll see what they say at the park when we get there.
Will be looking forward to hanging out and doing some Jeep trips, though.

We will be there but most likely arriving early and staying later. Don’t have exact dates yet. We are fulltime so don’t really have a State to put down. (Originally from Indiana) Looking forward to our first Quartzite experience!

That used to happen with the previous owners of the campground I stayed in this summer. What the seasonal people did when they left with their rvs was to park a car in their spots while they were gone. No one could get into their spots then.  Of course, if you only have one car, then you will be on foot during the rally.

Come when you wish, leave when you wish. The dates that Jeff specified are the, er, "official" dates, but that just means that you'll likely find a few of us there on any of those dates. Some folks stay a week, some a couple of days, some the entire time, and there are even sometimes that a few folks will be there for some time before and/or after the "official" dates.

A 4 PM "happy hour" (bring your own drinks, often there'll be snacks there) and, for some, a 10 AM group walk for exercise are probably the only things normally scheduled every day. Usually there'll also be one or two 4WD excursions planned, often led by Terry/Betty Brewer and/or Frank/Barb Weimert.

Otherwise, it's the flea market, the "big tent," and whatever else you can find to do, including lots of visiting.

I plan on coming down to Quartzsite from Lake Havasu for a week or so during the Forum Rally.

I won't be bringing the Stacker as I practically gave it away this summer to a young fellow from Parker.

There were two reasons for letting it go.  The first reason was because I almost got in a huge wreck when I could not stop at the stop light at the bottom of the hill on 95 going south into Parker.  I later discovered that it was because of a break in the brake wire on the Stacker.  With 25,000 pounds pushing me I went right through the intersection.  If anyone had been in front of me It would have been a real mess.

The second reason for letting the Stacker go was to free up the parking space next to the RV Garage for visitors.

See you in Q.

We(Dwight and Burnetta) will be in the area during the Rally dates...we opted to stay at the RV Park in Salome, Yep, I know its a tad of a drive into town!  Until I get some Solar, traveling with our Residential Fridge males boondocking a little challenging plus the wifey loves the washer/dryer. We will plan on stopping by, with name tags, one or more days and see some of you at the Big Tent or Silly Al's.

Hi Jeff and All
Please add me to the attendee list.  I too plan on being at KOFA, then I have to go to Phoenix for repair business for a couple of days (truck and trailer) and then will head back to Quartzite where I planned to hang out in the environs for most of January and February 2019.  I've looked forward to meeting some forum folks in person for 2+ years now, so am excited about this opportunity.  Just have to know exactly where you'all will be, so I can coordinate with my timing and stay in LTVA.

Linda, in the other Quartzsite topic that is stickied at the top there are directions, even photographs of the path in. Basically, it's 2 miles south of Q (just past milepost 102) on Hwy 95, then turn west (right, if you're southbound) at Tyson Wash. There are some other helpful links, as well.

I just read on an SKPs group that no one was there to take the money, but rangers were coming by to kick people out if they didnt have the stickers. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Dan, did you get there after the shutdown? Do you have a permit? Do you know firsthand of anyone being asked by rangers to leave the LTVA? This could be interesting.

Thanks for the first hand report Dan. There seems to be a guy who runs another forum that started spreading the rumor of people being kicked out, but no one seems to have had that experience. He is he guy who reports all the negative things about RVs, campgrounds, etc, but I can’t think of his name. The Quartzsite business groups have said they hadn’t heard of it happening, and there were many more people in the LTVAs yesterday than there were when we first looked in on Tuesday. We will be up there on Monday morning.

Last year they didnt kick anyone out. They just came through after the government reopened and told everyone to get permits.

Thanks, Dan, for first-hand info. There’re a lot of rumors floating out there. I figured I’d get it “straight from the horse’s mouth.”  :)

Hi All, It's been a while since I've join this group in Quartzsite, 2009, but planning to attend this year with my better half.  Put us down, Bruce and Suz.  We will be coming in Friday if all goes well and stay for a week.

Look forward to seeing some old friends and making some new ones.  Later

We, Hugh & Denise, are in Brenda, AZ for the winter. We plan to pack up the trailer and come down to the Rally for a few days. Plan to arrive Jan 24 and stay through the weekend.

Will anyone there have blank name tags? I hear they are needed (and appreciated) but we currently have none.

Thanks.

My wife and I will be visiting our son, his wife and new granddaughter in Twentynine Palms for the extended weekend. My son and I are tentatively planning a day visit to Quartzite on Monday, Jan 20. I am hoping we can sort of blow in and out for a quick hello and meet some forum members.

He is also looking for some tow bar parts for his recently purchased 2004 Subatu Outback toad - possibly at the RV Show/tent. It came with some parts but not all. We will be looking to understand how the lights and braking worked. All he has now is a cut off wire set behind the grill.

The real purpose is to meet some of the folks I see on this forum and get a taste of the Quartzite experience for future planning.

Looks as if we'll be departing shortly, spending the night in Raton, so likely we'll arrive sometime on Friday, given that the weather dictates we take I-25 to I-10 then west, rather than going through Flagstaff.

See ya'll then.

It actually looks like it may have stopped raining. The sky is much lighter than it was before. I would guess a lovely desert bloom will begin in a few days. We probably had an inch or more of rain! Lots of washes were running, and some of the streets in town were flooded.

We are staying in Mesa at an RV Park so won’t be camping with the group as we had planned. We do plan to drive out sometime during the week next week to visit the big “to-do” and will try to find you all around happy hour. We also plan to try to make the pot-luck dinner on the 26th. Look forward to meeting those of you we have not had a chance to yet.

There are only 4 Forum flags left. They will be available at the pot luck on the 26th. $20 each.

If you won't be at Quartzsite and want a flag, you can order it here. Scroll down to the bottom of the page of logo ware for the flags.

There are only 4 so whoever orders them first will get them.

Thanks for the info and offers. I can do it myself too, but I have just bought a 2019 Roadtrek Simplicity SRT which did not have prewiring for Solar. I am having La Mesa prewire to roof and then doing my own Solar panel install. No warranty issues with that.

But I only have one (1) AGM battery and want to add another and desiring to find an installer who might be factory authorized, to avoid warranty issues. I need two batteries bad for boon docking. The battery system is very complex and mounted underneath.

I still have a 2012 Winnebago (Sprinter) View G Profile which I will sell in the next month or two. I did my own 150 watt Solar install on it with no problems.

I could only get down to Quartzsite if there was an installer who could do it. By the way we live in Mesa if anyone comes this way.

Best wishes to all.

Don in Mesa,AZ
