Just to close the loop, I got the central vac working again. Thanks, Larry, for the suggestion to use emery cloth to clean the contacts in the wall mount inlet.
This is one example of why I LOVE this forum! While the manual is fairly good, it never addresses this issue. The members here, and their experience base, quickly gave the great answer.
I also got a new converter installed. PD 9270. Other than a difficult to reach location, directly behind the power panel and ALL of those wires, the installation was quite simple.
Again, thanks to all who responded to my previous posts to help me resolve these issues.
