Your BGM generator does not have the ability to store and send codes. If the generator runs while holding down the start switch, then one would think the carb and ign module are ok.
While running the generator with the start switch held down, have some one check for 120 volts at the connector box next to the generator. No voltage would probably indicate a bad voltage regulator.
Your BGM and my NHM are twins, except for size. I've had some experience with failures on mine.
