Two weeks ago we were in Lake Havasu and were going back into Ca to make a few doctors appointments and such in north county San Diego. We filled at a Flying J just outside of Phoenix on the way in. We stayed at Pala Casino for the week and took care of business and saw some old friends.
When leaving Pala we took I-15 to I-10 eastbound. Out around Blythe we passed a T/A truck stop right off of the freeway. The diesel credit price was $3.91 a gallon. We held off fueling until we got into Parker AZ, and stopped at Running Man fuel station. I pumped 79.4 gallons of diesel and paid a credit price of $2.86 a gallon. Fueling at the T/A in Blythe would have cost $310.45. In Parker AZ I paid $228.11. By waiting to fuel until I got back into AZ I saved over $82 on one fill. I love having the big fuel tank on these rigs and getting to be more selective when and where to get fuel. Plus we averaged a little over 8 mpg on the trip, so the mileage is slowly improving as we just turned 20,000 miles. I am a 60-65 mph cruise control driver, so not a speed demon even in the 75 mph zones. The Bus and Jeep weigh just over 43,000 pounds going down the road, so I am pretty happy with those numbers.
