Hi All,
I am trying to trace down a problem with my P2 which has been working ok for the past 5 years. The controller displays at times PL which means power loss during braking. I have replaced the trailer power tail (long over due to a pullout earlier) and looked at all the wiring on the trailer and  cannot see anything bad there. The truck connector also looks good. Here are some key points:

- The brakes work when the manual lever is applied.
- The PL error does show up if the manual lever is slid to harshly.
- The brakes work when the breakaway switch is activated.
- The brakes are in adjustment.
- The brakes also work when manually rotating the tire in the air and applying the brake pedal.

Does all of this seem to point to the controller? If so , how should I check that?

PL means "Power Interruption while the brake pedal is depressed", i.e. the controller isn't getting enough voltage (power) when the brake light signal line is energized.

Check the power and ground connections to the controller itself.  A bad connection there (a loose wire, a bit of corrosion) could supply enough voltage when the controller is idle, but make the voltage fall out of spec when the brakes are drawing current.
