We have a 2004 Discovery and want to replace the table and chairs with a dinette so the children can ride forward facing during a road trip.

What is the most cost effective, safest, and good looking place to find a dinette?

Also, are tables with removable poles better or ones that slide down?

Thanks in advance!!

Probably best to have one built to fit the space available. Booth dinettes are pretty simple, just a wood frame with cushions and upholstery. The tables are readily available too.

If you want to buy ready made, there are online sources and also RV salvage yards where you could pick up one from another RV.

Gary beat me to it, depending on where you are located, there are are a lot of RV salvage places across the US and Canada.  However, one thing you have not mentioned is if you do this to allow for passengers, you will need to also add seat belts, and safely anchoring then could be challenging, they need to anchored to the floor of the RV and not the bench.

Facing forward in a dinette booth is inherently rather unsafe without both lap and shoulder belt and the table removed. Otherwise the occupant crashes into the table in even a slight accident.  Frankly, the best thing you can do for passengers outside of the two front seats is to pray there is never an accident.

The good news is that the largest vehicle in an accident comes off the best, so only hit smaller vehicles and you won't have much to worry about.  ;)

There is a place in Red Bay, AL with a huge warehouse of RV furniture, lots of different manufacturers - Bunkhouse RV. They modify numerous coaches.
