We are planning a trip to the area just east of Colorado Springs in a few weeks. Does anyone have suggestions for a campground to use as a base for touring the area?
Any recomendations near Woodland Park Co?

Wrangler Ranch, out highway 24 near Pete Field, is ok. Has a great 1-acre field for dogs which makes it Sam's favorite campground.
Garden of the Gods is nice but pricey and very busy. Good pancake breakfasts, tho.
There's a KOA south of town in Fountain. Used to be independent and cost $5. I suspect those days are gone.
West side of town, down 115, there's a campground at May museum. We stayed there when I was in the Army, looking for a house to buy. It was fine but hilly and probably is out of the way from where you want to be.
