We stayed at the Beverly Beach Camground on the way out of Florida in June.

Not cheap, but you can't get much closer to the beach.

It was our anniversary that weekend, and we were treating ourselves.
It was wonderful, and worth every penny.

there's one over on the panhandle, East of Destin if I remember correctly.  I've only seen it online.
there are a few state parks in FL that are right on the beach, but with dunes or even low trees separating the sites from the actual beach
Fort Desoto park down in St Pete...I've been wanting to get in there for a few years now.  Have never had my schedule work with availability...
and then of course the keys...impossible to get into and not really a beach

For the last number of years these beach sites are hard....near impossible... to get into especially for weekends.

Hunting Island, outside of Beaufort, SC, has sites pretty close to the ocean, I think. The last hurricane or two re-arranged things. It's a very popular place in the fall. October and November can have some superb weather. September is the iffy month, keep your vehicle full of fuel and watch the Weather Hysteria Channel.

We have stayed here several time, nice clean and affordable! Sand dunes separate the beach from the sites. http://www.myrtlebeachtravelpark.com

If you're into overcrowded campgrounds with juveniles speeding all through the campgrounds in golf carts, Myrtle Beach would be the place for you. We detest it and will never go back.

We have also several times. Try to get site 96. There's an opening in the dunes right there and on a super high tide, water comes thru the opening and into the road. Not a problem for RV's.
