Hi! We are wanting to convert an old fifth wheel into guest house/cottage. Apart from merely painting the exterior, could we cover the siding with something to give the illusion of a residential? Or would I have to remove and replace current siding? Thanks!

If it's corrugated metal sided now, I'd probably remove it. If flat sided (fiberglass or aluminum), you could probably go over it. Be aware, though, that there may not be much to fasten new siding too. RVs usually do not have regularly spaced wall studs like a house.

How old is this 5W?  Or maybe more to the point, is the sidewall frame wood or metal?  A metal frame is harder to work with, even though it is superior construction.
