It's been years since we traveled in a car with a pop-up, but yeah, sometimes a break from camping is welcome. A motel and a pleasant restaurant meal, maybe even a couple days in a row so that you don't have to pack & go every morning. And most of us enjoy an occasional bit of private time/space as well, though I'm not sure a motel room qualifies. You don't need our approval - do whatever makes your travels comfortable and rewarding.
Those of us who travel long term have figured out that the journey is as important as the destination. Do whatever you need to do to make that come true.
