Can anyone explain how the heated holding tanks work? We have a 2017 Aerolite 282dbhs. Specifically do they have to be turned on? Do the heating ducts just keep the tanks warm?Thank you in advance.

Depending on the unit, some come with heating pads, others have ducts that run close by to prevent freezing.

Dutchman describes the Aerolite this way:
The All-Weather Thermal Package includes a fully enclosed and force-heated underbelly that delivers cold-weather campers with two layers of insulation and enclosed gate valves. With this kind of protection for your RVs vital components, your vacation plans don?t have to be confined to summer and spring.
That tells me that it is ducted heated air rather than heat pads and that the furnace has to be running to get any heat.
