What is it?

Noticed most of the super c?s at the drag strip had some kind of black thing mounted above the right side window. About 7or8 inches square. Couldn?t get close enough to ask the crew. Plus they were busy. Anyone know what this is??
 
Don't know if this is what you are referring to, but our 2018 Fuse has one of the new type of TV antenna placed right where you mentioned. It stands about 10 or 12 inches high, is black and the top is a flat circular receiver for the TV signals.

Transponder for gate access perhaps. Are they on anything else beside the Cs?
 
I've seen something similar on semi tractors.  It is a mirror to see directly below the passenger window.  I always thought it was a security item.
 
The SiriusXM antenna for the home looks very similar to that. The magnetic mobile ones are just a little round "hockey puck" but the home ones have the angle mount so that you can screw one part into the side of the house (or wall) and adjust the other (antenna) part vertically to maximize the signal.
