I've been ciphering for a while, trying to figure out where to stealth install our 30 Amp Huges Autoformer. At first I wanted to put it in the trunk, but that was going to require too many holes, and disassembling the Autoformer to route the cable.

Today, I found a home for it in the utility bay. I mounted it on a plywood base, holding it in place with 3 1x1 cleats and an aluminum strap. The base is screwed to the plastic tub floor, and serves to distribute the weight of the autoformer.

The Hughes installation kit includes a new female outlet for the park cable. I mounted that above the generator outlet. The idea of the outlet and pigtail on the autoformer is that you can easily bypass it if there are problems.

Used mine (30 Amp) for the 1st time last summer at an RV park in Idaho.....with 104v power.  Saved an ugly "hit" to the trip (all other parks were full and I was there 3 days.)  I just cable-locked it to the park's pedestal and the park owner was fine with that.

Nice install and thanks for posting.  I didn't know about the pigtail, but I'll look into it.  My main concern has been with providing enough air circulation as recommended by the mfr, but I note there is no finned heat transfer surface on the unit, so maybe it isn't that big of a deal.  Guess one could mount a small fan in the coach near the unit.

Good times and safe travels to ya.
