Momma's new ride - 40' Country Coach
« on: February 22, 2020, 07:22:38 PM »
Took a trip to La Mesa RV in Fort Myers to look at a 2007 Fleetwood Revolution and a 2007 Country Coach 40' with a tag. DW and I I fell in love with the CC immediately.  Absolutely pristine with 36k on the odometer, 126 hours on the 12.5k Onan, 1 owner and he kept it stored in his airplane hangar.  It was slightly more than we wanted to spend but we got more for our money too.  I'll take delivery by next weekend if all checks out on inspection.  Hoping I made the right choice.

I had a buyer for my Airstream back out this week so I will now own 2 coaches.  Back on the market it goes.....

I'll post more pics when I get it home.

Will do Bill - I may need to swing through Tampa so you can give me a tutorial on all the systems.  It's overwhelming compared to my AS, which is almost as basic as it gets.  There was no manual with the CC that I could find and online resources look limited other than folks willing to help.

Thanks!

The only issue that I agreed to swallow is about half of the windows are slightly fogged.  They did agree to fix the passenger's door window when I told them it was a safety hazard.  I really found very little else to point out to them.  They agreed to a complete service for the engine, tranny,  generator and chassis.  They are also going to go through all systems with me to ensure they all work per design.

It seems almost every coach I've looked at of that era has the same window problem and there are companies getting rich making the repairs.

Dual pane glass simply doesn't hold up well to the rigors of highway travel plus campsite leveling. The twisting of the structure breaks the seal between the panes and moisture gets in, fogging the windows. It's not clear that newer ones have resolved this problem - it may be that it simply hasn't happened to the newer ones yet.  However, the dual glass from SEGI was used widely in RVs in that era (SEGI was the low cost provider until the warranty claims started coming in) so it is indeed common in 2004-2008 vintage rigs of all brands.

Swing by!  If you have a mind to head west, there s a CC rally in Tucson 4/1 to 4/6. I am considering heading out for that on our way north and west, or more accurately, west and north.  On owning 2 coaches, when we bought the CC last year we already owned 2, CC made 3, but thankfully #2 sold fairly quick, and #1, which had a buyer who backed out, got sold before I had to store it in the Fall.

Now the Airstream?  What size?  Have a friend looking for one, she is in St Pete.  I think she s looking for something around a 22-25'.

I went to pick up the CC today and La Mesa had not completed the few items they promised and confirmed were done in a call to me last night.  I told them in no uncertain terms that no check will be delivered until they complete these items.  I drove 3 hours each way just to do it again next weekend, assuming they are completed.  I thought these guys might be above the norm, but it appears they are not. I know once I drive away with unfinished work, it will never be addressed.   They were attempting to deliver 5 units today and think the other 4 were in similar situations.  Pretty darn frustrating.

The sad part is that few RV dealers are even embarrassed about failing to keep promises or getting caught in a lie.  Of course, they are pretty confident you will be back again next week.
