Hey Folks, can you please help me identify what the attached item is? It looks like some sort of pump and it seems like it is starting to make a lot of noise. it is located on the fire wall beside the generator at the front of my RV. My RV is a Itasca Ellipse.

Thanks for your help,
Herbie

I believe that it's a vacuum pump, and the round ball is a vacuum reservoir - used to operated dash heat/defrost vent valves on diesels which have very little vacuum. When you first turn your key on, before starting, you should be able to hear the pump running briefly. What sort of noise is it making?

Scott, I appreciate your help and believe you are exactly correct. It seems like it has been cycling off and on a lot lately. I will search around and see it I have any vacuum leaks to be sure.

thanks,

Herbie

You may want to replace under hood vacuum hoses on general principle.  They get the heat.  Hope that is all it is!
