COE campgrounds in many states are closing.

Edit- So far this order affects Texas and Oklahoma COE parks, and does not apply to persons already at those locations.  Sarge

Also FL, GA, AL, KY, MS, AR, MO, LA, IL, IN, are some of the other COE I've seen. Existing campers can stay thru their resserved time but all future reservations after March 20 are cancelled thru April. No walk-ins accepted.

More from NV.  Of interest to me since our 5er is still in a commercial/private RV park in Mesquite.  Included is a detailed list of "essential businesses" which includes various lodging facilities including RV parks and campgrounds.

Edit:  Just got off the phone with a neighbor in the park.  He said the park owner wanted to shut the park down but was satisfied with just closing the clubhouse so no public rest room or laundry.

All Louisiana state parks closed effective today https://www.crt.state.la.us/news?NewsID=344

p.s. Louisiana is under a stay at home order which went into effect yesterday, though there are lots of exclusions for "essential services"

Continuing with Nevada.  Yes, they are VERY serious about shutting down nonessential businesses.  Last night on the local news they were saying that the Metropolitan Police Dept. is starting to tell the nonessentials by letter that they are required to close and will be fined if they do not comply.  I think they started yesterday.

I was in Von's grocery store yesterday and they were using blue masking tape on the floors to mark off six-foot distances near the service desk and cash registers.  As I was approaching the cash register I stopped where the magazine racks start and simultaneously the cashier asked me to stop there.  When I commented on the blue tape she said it was a corporate Safeway directive to keep people separated.  Clark County now has four deaths, all of whom apparently had some underlying condition.  We're hibernating.

All of Colorado is now on lockdown, as of 0600 MDT this morning.

So far as I know, I-70 and all other roads are open. Lockdown means all non-essential businesses are closed and people are required (not just asked) to stay home except for going to grocery store, med, exercise (bike, walk) or other "essential," under penalty of fine or jail. Don't even go visit other friends/family.

To the best of my knowledge I70 is open, but few facilities of any kind will be open. Traffic should be light, though.

Addendum: Colorado Road Conditions website is slow, but should give updates if there are closures, perhaps due to weather.

Try to stay out of the various resort towns, since they seem to be particularly hard hit with illness.

I have moved messages which are not pertinent out of sight as per my original statement please only post closures!

Just heard that Smokey Mountain NP was closed and that includes complete closure of US441 across the mountains.

From the Virginia State Parks website:

Virginia State Parks are open for day-use activities.

As always, we have the safety and well-being of our visitors and staff in mind. We continue to monitor the situation with COVID-19, and this page will be updated as new information becomes available.

Effective Friday March 27 overnight facilities and restrooms will be closed through April 30. The closure includes all cabins, campgrounds, camping cabins and yurts, as well as restrooms and bathhouses.

Be aware travel restrictions are starting to show up, there is now a mandatory 2 week quarantine orders for interstate travelers, in this case it is anyone from Louisiana arriving in Florida (it is less than a 3 hour drive from New Orleans to the Florida state line, more like 2 hours state line to state line across the narrow sections of coastal Mississippi and Alabama).  Penalty of 60 days in jail for not obeying.

See https://www.nola.com/news/coronavirus/article_3d4a07c2-706b-11ea-9d59-432041c0536c.html

I suspect we will be seeing more this in the very near future with other states around hot spots.

I HAD a reservation next week at Lake Hartwell State Park (Fair Play, SC) and got the call yesterday.  Refund or credit for a later stay (Park closed) ask the caller to forward up the line my opinion (Polite I might add).    Got a reservation for about the same price at another park (Lake Hartwell RV park) just up the road about 4 miles.

Checked with Twin Lakes COE.. their web page says all lake hartwell parks closed till further notice.  So that would be any government park on the shore of Lake Hartwell..... Private (Membership) campground I'm in now is not feted even if we are Lake Hartwell lake front. (Well they are affected. Packed solid but not closed)

There is no cause to be closing the parks.  Public buildings yes. the parks no.

Utah jstate parks by St. George,  just closed parks to out of county residents... new twist. But I like that...at least locals can camp...

And finally, information on a CALL TO ACTION, by Escapees and others to keep campgrounds open for full-time RVs that need locations to shelter-in-place.  It's about time.

Iowa closed public and private campgrounds to recreational short term use. Seems like a good balance of supporting full-timers while keeping weekenders home. Stays must be more than 3 weeks.

All Texas state parks closing as of end of day today on order of the Governor, I just received an automated email a few minutes ago from their reservation system, even though I had no pending reservations.
