05 Itasca has basement HVAC. Setting thermostat to electric heat gets is overridden by gas heat. New thermostat installed.

If the tstat setting is more than 3 degrees over the current temp the gas heat will kick on to assist the electric. I walk my setting up 3 degrees at a time when I want to avoid the gas heat coming on. If the gas heat is coming on and electric heat/ heat pump is not, I would suspect the new tstat is not properly wired.
