For many years we've stopped at Canyonville OR to get fuel at the Seven Feathers truck stop.  Stayed in their very nice hotel and have eaten a number of times at both the truck stop restaurant and the casino buffet.  All very nice, clean, and well run.  The last time we were here they had just opened a new RV resort behind the truck stop.  So, after visiting their booth at FMCA this week, we decided to come see the new RV resort on our way south.

Seven Feathers is definitely high on our list of places to stay and we recommend it.  It has 191 very nice level sites and the whole place is beautifully landscaped.  Right now red and white petunias are all over the place.  Haven't been in the bathrooms, but some doors were open and they look nice too.  Jerry commented that each site has two sewer connections, fore and aft.  Their shuttle takes people to and from the casino as well as to other places on the property and some local attractions.  They're building a whole new parkway into the RV Resort section and changing the access to the truck stop.  The resort is much larger than I thought it would be and it's tucked back into the canyon behind the truck stop - far enough away that it's quiet and peaceful as well as being in a lovely treed setting.  They have cable TV with about 25 channels, but we're able to get the satellite here even with nearby mountains.  Also they have free wifi that WORKS!  Other amenities include a BBQ pavilion, a media center, gift shop, fitness center, indoor pool with (we've been told) a very nice spa and showers.  There are two shower and laundry buildings, horseshoe pit, etc.

The property is owned by the Umpqua tribe and they are the largest employer in Douglas County, Oregon.

The Seven Feathers Casino and RV Resort is on I-5 at exit 99 in Oregon.  In other words, about 100 miles north of California.

Nice!  We've bookmarked it too.  DH is from Oregon, so we will definitely be up that way.

What are the current rates?  Do you know if they discount for casino play?

We stayed there in June and with their "players card" the cost was $28.95 per night. Also with the card you get a fuel discount of I think three cents a gallon. plus in the restaurant if you ask for the special you can get a great rib eye steak dinner for 9.95. It's the same steak they sell for $15.95 if you don't ask for the special. I agree it is a great spot to stop and enjoy a beautiful and very friendly park.

Looks like a nice place. But don't forget, any time you stay at a casino RV park, you want to get a players card first because there's almost always a discount or points to be had.

Right on since the players cards are so reasonable. ;D

How does one go about doing that.  Do you pull into the Casino Parking lot first?  Also are the players card good at all the owners casinos.  Like Harrah's or MGM?

Park in the lot first and go inside for the player's card. Or at some casinos, you can go to the RV park first and they'll send you to the casino for a card (Sam's Town in Tunica MS did). If they don't, tell them you're going to run over to the casino for a player's card. And sometimes you have to go to the casino to pay for the RV site anyway so when you go in the casino, stop at the player's card center first (Casino Hollywood in San Felipe NM is like that).

Good question. I don't actually know but I would think so. I know my Terrible's card is good at all their casinos. Didn't have my Vegas Sam's Town card when we stopped at the Sam's Town in Tunica MS so we got a new one and I notice that it says "Sam's Town Tunica" on it so don't know if it would be good in LV....I'll have to try it this winter.

Don't know about all the casinos but the Harrah's ads that are on the TV in the Phoenix area say they are good at all the Harrah's casinos.

Hi, Wendy,

please forgive my ignorance,  but could you tell me what a PLAYER'S CARD  is??
Thank's

Claude,

When I walk through a casino to get to their restaurant, I see folks with something the size of a credit card stuck in the machine and tethered around the person's neck. I used to think it was their ATM card or credit card, but came to find out it's the casino equivalent of a frequent flyer card. The more they pull the handle (or push the button) the more points they earn. The points get them freebies or discounts.

Since I don't gamble, I've never understood the need for one of these cards, until I read Wendy's message.

Yep, the more you gamble with the card in the machine, the more points you rack up.  Then you can use points for free meals, free rooms, and other items.  At the old Magic in Bay St. Louis they gave me a room for 2 free nights, free meals, and a $75 spa gift certificate for my birthday.  We routinely get coupons in the mail for free rooms and free gambling money ($20 - $75), and free meals.  It definitely is worth getting and using one.  You go to the casino's "Players club" and they make one up for you on the spot.

Yep, those 2 messages pretty well sum up players cards. I have several dozen players cards and I don't gamble. But you get points and discounts for other things, too....RV sites, gasoline, meals, etc. And if you have a card and they see you're not using it, they often send you invitations with really good deals on them. You also get points for putting money into machines even if you don't actually gamble that money (put in $20 and immediately cash out). And you get a nifty chain/clip that you can use for other things, not to mention a plastic card that works good for cleaning.

Wendy, it only took me how many years to figure out the players card and now you lost me. How do you use the card for cleaning and what do you clean with it?

Sorry I confused you, Tom, but glad you have players cards figured out. As for using the cards to clean, ever try to clean small cracks between tile in the kitchen? Or under the knobs on the stove? Plastic cards like credit cards (or players cards) work great. They make nice little scrapers and you don't care if they get dirty or break because they were free.
