Looking at getting a 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport.  The 2019 Honda Owners Guide (not the owners MANUAL) located here: http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/QS/AH/ATGG1919OG/enu/ATGG1919OG.PDF  states that the manual transmission CAN be towed, page 80.  There is no owners GUIDE online for the 2020.

As far as I know, a 2020 is the same as a 2019.  The dealer has told me it can be towed.  I was looking at getting all the parts to toad it from etrailer and having them do the install since it's included if you buy the parts from them; but they're quoting the 2020 Owner MANUAL and saying it can't be towed, even though their own website lists baseplates and brake systems that are compatible with a 2020.

So anyway, does anyone know of any reason the 2020 can't be toad when the 2019 can?

How much does installation run for baseplate and wiring if I have to pay for it instead of etrailer doing it for free?

Thanks in advance!

Honda has always been conservative about their transmission warranties, so I'm thinking they may have ceased approval to tow manual transmission models even though there ha been no change in the transmission itself.  It may simply be that their warranty claims experience has been negative so they no longer approve of towing that model.  In any case, the 2020 owner manual is quite clear on the subject, so you would be risking denial of any transmission warranty claim if you do tow it.

Towing Your Vehicle
Your vehicle is not designed to be towed behind a motor home. If your vehicle needs to be towed in an emergency, refer to the emergency towing information.2Emergency Towing P. 644

I agree with Gary, but you could always ask the Dealer to put that in writing on their company letterhead.  A salespersons word is well, not always the most accurate advise to follow  ;)

Many places charge a flat fee these days, typically $200-$350 for the base plates and another $200-$250 for lights. Some may do it based on the actual work (time & materials), but that seems to be going out of style as most newer cars are complex enough to require a far amount of effort. None of them are quick & simple anymore.

etrailer doing it for free???    They give free advice and ship for free, but I've not heard of any free installation (except if you DIY).

My go to source  is Remco http://www.remcotowing.com/Towing/Store.php
They say it can't be towed 4 down "Must be towed on a tow dolly."
Now they make their money selling products to make things towable. Go look but I would rather believe Remco over a salesman.

That's not really so true anymore.  RemcoTowing.com is now just one marketing effort by Remco Industries, a major manufacturer of pumps of all kinds. They make a transmission lube pump for 4-down towing, but no other toad-towing products.  The old Remco Towing was a 4-down towing specialist, but that company was broken up and sold a decade ago.

That said, I would agree that the opinion on the Remco Towing website is one more reputable source warning you not to try it.
