converter question

Just got home with the motorhome, and plugged it into the house power.  I could hear the converter running.  i was wondereing does the converter cycle when the batteries are charging and other little clocks are running on stereos etc. or does it cycle automatically for another reason.

Well there are different types of converters but the better ones don't so much 'Cycle" as "Throttle Down"

The FAN however, may indeed cycle on and off
 
As John says, what you are hearing is the cooling fan running.  The electrical power is pretty much silent - maybe a slight hum.  When the load is light, the fan cycles off and on, whereas when the load is heavy the fan will run more nearly continuously.
