Just purchased a 12' porta bote.  does anyone have a drawing of mounting brackets to carry the boat on the side or bottom of a 30' 5 er.

Also currently looking for a used 6 HP 4 cycle outboard motor and recommendation for all required safety and misc. equipment..  new to boating so any advise will help.
Thanks
Fred

Porta Bote used to sell them as an accessory - have you checked? I had a set when we owned one.

One bracket was a somewhat flattened "D" made of stainless steel that mounted on the side or roof of the RV. The nose of the boat is slipped into this bracket. The stern bracket was somewhat similar but one side was removable and made from spring steel. The removable side fit into a notch on one end and was held with a Clevis pin on the other. With the top piece off, you lay the stern into the open bracket and then fit the top piece on to lock it down in place. The fit is tight enough that it can't slip out, whether  mounted on the side (even at an angle) or the roof. Never found a place big enough underneath to carry it there, but that was with a gas rig so there was a drive shaft and exhaust to worry about.  It also would get terribly dirty under there - road grime, oils, and also rock dings and such.

Found the mounting brackets pictured on the Porta Bote web site - see the FAQ section: Mounting a Porta Bote
