We made the trip from central Florida to Austin, Texas on Saturday - Monday.
No traffic or construction problems of any note.
As far as I10 road surface -- Florida was the best, except for a small stretch around Tallahassee. Things were a bit worse in Alabama and Mississippi and then a lot worse in Louisianna, particularly from Baton Rouge westward. In Texas, things were pretty good once you got past Beaumont.
The cheapest gas purchased was $2.69 per gallon in the Houston area. The most expensive was $3.15 per gallon near Pensacola, Florida. Gas was significantly cheaper in Louisianna and in Texas, except for the Austin area where it averages $2.95 or so.
