Not sure what's going on but Travel Supreme closed down today with a sign on gate. The word is that that will reopen Monday but its not known who ?

Here is excerpt of a report on RV Business News

Luxury motorhome and fifth-wheel builder Travel Supreme Inc. unexpectedly closed down administrative and production facilities on Wednesday (Jan. 23) with plans to reopen on Monday.

A sign on the Wakarusa, Ind.-based manufacturer?s office door indicated that the company would return to operation on Monday, sparking rumors that the firm had shuttered its doors permanently. The gated product yard, which was locked Wednesday afternoon, housed around 15 fifth-wheels and a few motorhomes.

They may be on a short work week, cutting labor costs while production demand is low.  But no manufacturer can go on like that for long - too much fixed overhead.

Thirty-five years ago during the oil embargo the smart CEO's at Coachmen, Starcraft and Holiday Rambler laid off all but the crew leadrers keeping them for service and perhaps one line of limited production.

Open Road didn't, they were already a corporate operation and operated as such. They kept making product believing it would change next month. It didn't.

First of all please understand we are a T/S dealer.

T/S shut down last Wednesday 1/23 and sent all hourly and salary
people home and told them to report back to work this Monday 1/28.

They are operating on a very limited basis as of today.

We have been told that all parts, including normally "no charge"
warranty parts will only be shipped on a COD basis. That's not good.

A rep that I've known for 15 years that joined T/S a year ago has
left. He indicated in a phone conversation today that the bank has
put the cuffs on their checking account and accounts payable has
been frozen. That means no warranty payments. That's not good
either.

He also said that whatever remaining RVs that were in the line will
be built to the best of their ability and sold. There are also
several remaining yard units for sale but as of today will be
offered w/out a factory warranty.

I have received no correspondence from T/S nor talked to any of
their officers. This info is strictly coming from employees and ex-
employees.

We have 3 Travel Supreme motorhomes in stock and I am putting
together a plan to make them attractive to a potential buyer if
the "no factory warranty" is indeed a fact.
