Hopefull everyone who owns one of these coachs has received their notice, but if not, here's what mine says:
Applies to XC Motorhome Chassis built between January 5, 2007 and May 17, 2007, with certain Axle Alliance Company front axles.
Here's the attention getter:
"During front axle assembly, the fasteners that attach the steering arm or the tie rod arms to the spindle may have been over or under tightened. Incorrectly tightened fasteners may fatigue and fracture, resulting in a possible vehicle crash without prior warning." Underlining and bold added by me.
The letter goes on to say that any authorized dealer can make the necessary repairs, the repairs take about one and one half hours, and there will be no charge to the owner.
If you own one of these vehicles and are on the road and haven't been receiving your mail recently, you may want to call Freightliner with your VIN and see if you need to get the repairs done. The date of the recall is December 2007, but we just got our letter last week.
Ours is being repaired this week, but everytime I think of where we've been in the 18000 miles we've covered since last April with that potential disaster looming, it gives me the chills.
Bless you all.
