I have my RV insurance with Progressive.  I received a notice today that they now include pet injury insurance with the policy, and that if you have personal effects coverage, they will pay first for a covered loss to valuables before other insurance coverage pays.  Just a letter with few details but it takes effect March 31, 2008 with no change in premiums.

Do they offer a discount for folks with no pets?

Not that they mention. They don't say what the limits are either, you have to call them to get details.  I'm still in shock that benefits have increased without a rise in premiums.  I'm waiting to see what the catch is.

Sounds like a good deal for anyone with on-board pets. OTOH I suspect it's a safe bet for the insurance companies.

I assume that folks know that insurance companies hire large teams of statisticians, called actuaries, to analyze this stuff and to table probabilities of various events occurring.

I'll have to check this out. Anyone with a pet knows how expensive vet bills can be.
