Touring USA with European Motorhome
« on: April 13, 2008, 06:09:44 PM »
This is a subject that has cropped up a few times on the UK motorhome forum.

There are a few people that are exploring the possibility of touring the States with their own European motorhome. It seems it has been done although a few years ago.
Other than the obvious power and other hookup differences, and the absence of Fiat,Peugeot,Citreon dealers what else can you guys think of

Ian,

I don't know if there are requirements that the vehicle would need to meet. For example, gray market vehicles (including Mercedes) brought into California from Europe for sale have to be modified to meet CA safety requirements. I don't know if the same applies to other states, nor do I know if it applies to vehicles that are brought in merely for touring.

Insurance might be another issue, and vehicle registration might be another.

Maybe one of our Canadian members can shed some light.

my thoughts were to buy an RV and sell it at the end of the trip, surely the depreciation would be less than 2 way shipping etc,but they dont want to have to sell their Motorhomes in the UK to do the USA trip
