New to a travel trailer. My pop up had a converter I switched from battery to converter to operate the 12 volt lights and every thing else that required 12vdc. My 88
Impala has B&W Model 6500 power converter. Blue wire to RV 12vdc, white wire to ground, red wire to battery. With AC power hooked up and battery disconnected the 12 vdc lights do not work. The 12vdc water pump had been hooked to the battery/red wire. I guess my battery went dead and my water pump didn't work. I thought my converter went bad, on inspection it's suppling 12.4 vdc. I wired my water pump to the blue converter wire and the water pump works even with the battery disconnected. I guess that his converter doesn't charge the battery and the converter doesn't power the lights. I really will never need just battery power so I should be ok with the way I have it. Just looking for general info on how converters work.
