Looks like more bad news for the industry,

CHINO, Calif. -- Alfa Leisure laid off its entire workforce today and shut its doors, one of the manufacturer's California dealerships confirmed this evening.

The recreational vehicle industry was off significantly during the quarter. February and March motor home shipments were down 21 percent and 27 percent, respectively, from the prior-year period. Shipments of Class A motor homes were particularly affected, with a decrease of 36 percent each month.[/quote]

Ouch!

Another one bites the dust. Rumors started floating around earlier this week that Ontario-based Alfa Leisure, which makes motorhomes, had called it quits. The company left a message today on its answering service that confirmed the company has gone out of business.

The company is significant primarily because it was founded by Johnnie Crean, son of the founder of Riverside-based Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.

The company had just announced in recent weeks a plan to begin producing its RVs in Oregon.
