Places to overnight in Europe
« on: June 03, 2008, 06:33:04 PM »
After seeing a message from the author, I checked out this web site on 10,000 places to overnight in Europe. Select a country, then click on one of the flags identifying each location and the information pops up.

I've checked a few locations that I'm familiar with &/or have heard about, and the information appears to be accurate.

The author says that his site is written in German, but he's working on an English translation. This didn't affect the locations I checked.

Hi Remmi. Your site is a very nice piece of work and very informative.

I don't know of an equivalent site covering the USA. Trailer Life Publications offers a CD that has many campgrounds, but it's not free; It requires a purchase and subscription fo subsequent updates. Maybe one of our staff or forum members knows of another site.

Hi Tom. the work is not a problem, but the data to come already.
at some time it will take much more information on the homepage.

Also for the U.S. and Canada, I would like to do something.

What is the name of the company where I can get the CD?

Remmi,

Here's a link to the directory on CD. Hope that helps.

I just realized that they also have an online directory here.

I'm glad I am fluent in German, at least in reading, after 57 years away.

Danke schön, Remmi.

Howdy from the netherlands.
I´m the "better part" of Reiner and I really enjoy the comments of you guys, because I had my home (many years ago) in El Paso. Nice to hear from " good ol`America"
-and be sure- we will visit America , so I can show Reiner some of the nice places and nice folks in this great country!! And maybe meet some of you nice guys.
And guess what- today we bought our new motorhome- a little bit smaller than yours- but in our hearts we are all the same- loving the freedom.
Greetings from a german "girl" living in the "outback" in Holland.
(Did I hear anybody laugh about our "Moppel"?)

If there was anybody laughing they wouldn't come time to fill the tank.  Bet you get pretty good mileage with the Moppel.

Nice job Remmi, thanks.

I checked some of the map locations in Wales (Burry Port SA160, Tenby SA70-7 & SA70-8, and Afon Taf SA33-4), and there appear to be duplicates. Maybe I just misunderstand the numbering.

More good work Remmi. One request - the menu of countries on the left of the page mentions England. However, since the map includes camp sites in Scotland and Wales, it should be Great Britain, or just GB. It's like the equivalent of the BeNeLux item in the menu (you wouldn't call the 3 countries Belgium). Thanks.

Tom

The comparison between GB and the Benelux hast a distinctive difference. GB has only one Royalty and the Benelux countries have each their own ;).  Before the Euro each had their own currency.

Understood Chris. But Wales is not represented on the "Union Jack" flag of GB and has its own language. Place names, street names, and even road signs are in a different language from England.
