Looking for something that will mount to my 2x2" universal hitch. Want it for extra storage of generator and possibly bicycle.

Idea 1:

Thought I could chain a generator to this hitch mount (to prevent theft while in use). My AC/DC power plugs run right out the back of the van through a porthole.

Idea 2:

This could actually store the generator when not in use. I'd simply open the top to run it and ventilate it.

Different brands and combinations of platforms, canvas/plastic storage boxes, cargo nets, etc:

I'd appreciate any opinions of the different brands. As well as the different combinations of devices. Trying to keep costs under $650.

Be careful how much weight you load on the back of your vehicle. Any weight added behind the rear axle removes weight from the front axle.

Here is a spreadsheet that you can use to determine how much weight you are adding to the rear axle and how much you are removing from the front axle. If too much weight is removed from the front axle it will make handling a problem.
