Trip Summary:

I am including our expenses to the extent we keep track of them to provide others with some idea of what it will cost to travel through this area. While our discretionary spending is our own the costs for ferries, fuel, and campgrounds will provide some guideline on this trip.

Motorhome Diesel:   (354 gallons @ 5.32/U.S. Gal in Canada (includes one tankful purchased in US @ $4.00/gal))             $1,779.00
                             (We drove 3026 miles)

CRV Fuel:                ($4.96/ US gal) (We drove 4530 miles)                                                                                     $  981.00

Ferries:                   (We were charged a 24% fuel surcharge over normal summer rates)                                            $1,878.00

Campgrounds          (We only boondocked 4 nights in two months while in Newfoundland you could do so a lot)            $1,624.00

All other costs for food, eating out, boat charters, tours, admissions, gifts, and misc. This is controllable-we didn't.           $7,692.75

                                                                                                                                   TOTAL                          $13,954.75

Thanks for sharing.  Great job. Please save your S & T map.  If possible I'd like a copy.  Atlantic Canada is on our to do list.

A continued safe journey, and may the road be smooth before ye.

Thanks for the report and the pictures. Maybe sometime we'll get up that way. And if not, we've been there vicariously with you and the Brewers and Russ.

Thanks and see you Quartzsite

One more thought to pass on:

We had a great trip and I just want to emphasize how much we got to enjoy because of those from the RV Forum who went before us. Tin and Jan Lynch had printed off a copy of their trip report from a few years ago, Jerry & Ardra Fitzgerald also provided invaluable advice on places to go and see, and we interacted with Betty, Terry, and Russ from the time we left Arizona. Also we were given tips by Ed and Donna when we met them this Spring and in Shediac.

The benefit of all this guidance is that even though we did not pay for a professional caravan I am quite sure we maximized our opportunities to have a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

THANKS EVERYONE!

Jeff & Sue,

We are glad to see that you, Terry, Betty and Russ had a great experience in Atlantic Canada. When we did our trip report, which was much less extensive than yours or the Brewers, we had two purposes for our report.

#1 to share our overall experience and #2 to note things that we would do differently so others could consider our thoughts when planning their trip. Before leaving on our trip, we reviewed a report by the Dobrin's, talked with Russ and were given advice by a few forum members during our trip. All very helpful. Atlantic Canada and Alaska are our top picks for great RV destinations/journeys.

We didn't post photos on the forum, but did on our monthly web site at lynchmobile.com. See July and August 2005.

You and the Brewers did a great job of posting your photos and doing daily logs which is sometimes a very tiring job. Well done!

Dear Jeff and Sue,

Thanks so much for sharing your trip with all of us.  It was good to get your perspective along with the Brewers' and Russ's.   Makes us wish for a trip up there ourselves, but have traveled there vicariously, along with Wendy and others.   The pictures and your descriptions were superb and we were quite able to fill our imaginations of being there in your pocket with you.   ;D

Have a safe trip back and if we can ever get out of this dank, miserable northwest, we hope to see you at QZ.

Glad to hear you guys are going to slow down. Colorado is a great state with lots to see and do and great places to just stop and relax. With the economy going the way it's going, we'll probably spend next summer in our home state - oh and the Hop-Skip-Jump in Utah in the spring.

Colorado would be a dream trip for us.  We love it, having lived there for 3 months in 1999 and 2 months in 2005 on work field trips.  Haven't been there in the RV, though.  Sigh... Maybe some day...

Jeff and Sue,

Great idea - except how to choose "the Best" because most of it was superb!  :)  I too love your map.  What a neat idea to number the stops and start 1 with green and end with red.  I have maps going back to our very first RV trip around the U.S. in 1972.  Such a great life we have!

Jeff --

Was the mileage in your cost summary just for the trip outlined in your map or did it include getting to Maine in the first place?

The 3000 m/h miles were what we drove in Canada, we drove another 3800 getting there from AZ with quite a few detours this spring.

Thank you, Jeff.

This is the most lurking I've ever done, but thoroughly enjoyed. Memories of my 31 day Maritime trip from Chicago 38 years ago flooded over me again and again.

My MS MapPoint 2002 creates maps exactly like your picture and I used that app for my trip this summer to IN, KY, TN & SC and back to NM. I'll now add a screenshot into a folder in Pictures to have a backup and email sampler.

The Campfire will be burning when you get the opportunity to drive by again. ;)
