Last weekend we took our first camping trip with our new Navion IQ, even though we knew it was going to be very hot.  Overall it was pretty successful.  The only thing that was wrong was a loose speaker wire, which I'll fix before the next trip.  As well, because it was so hot, we were inside a lot more than we would be under normal circumstances and we didn't have any major issues with being in each others  way.

Knowing from others, as well as our previous experience, that things can crop up after taking delivery of a new RV, we're pleased so far.

We have a few things left to do before our trip to Wisconsin in September, like getting our 2004 Honda CRV set up for towing and installing a shower modification that will let me take a shower (I'm a big guy and this shower is too tight... which we knew going into this).

For our first trial run we made reservations for the campground at  Petit Jean State Park, Arkansas. (see my Petit Jean State Park and Petit Jean Mountain page.)  We have camped there several times in the past.  It is a good place for setting up and checking everything out.  There is also a decent climb with curves on the way up from the west, which allowed us to see how it handled climbing as well as a winding descent on the east for checking out how it handles going down hill.

We'll do at least one more weekend before our September trip north.

Good looking rv!  Those are some nice pictures too!  Thanks for sharing.

Kathy, you took the words right out of my mouth!

Mike, you not only had a good shakedown drive but what a pretty campground.  Nice place to stay.  Thanks for the good photos.

Thanks!

It is a nice campground. Area "A" in the campground was renovated a couple of years ago.  The voters of Arkansas passed an ammendment to the state constitution that funds state parks and recreation (as well as fish and game, I think) with a modest 1/8 cent conservation sales tax which has enabled the park system to make significant improvements.  Area "A" is full hookup with 50 amp service and is very big rig friendly.

Petit Jean State Park was the first park in the Arkansas State Park system and it remains the most visited... and most photgraphed.

With our new, shorter camper, we'll be able to use the other, more rustic areas of the campground with no problem.  ::)

Petit Jean State Park.

Mike, nice MH.  We, too, like Petit Jean State Park as DW is from Morrilton, and we visit and hike there occasionally.  Am anxious to here about your set-up for the CRV.  We live in the Mountain Home, AR, area and are looking hard for a dinghy to pull behind our Jayco Melbourne 29D.
