Coburg (KMTR) - More layoffs in Lane County . This time, Monaco Coach. More than 200 people are out of work today at the RV manufacturing plant in Coburg . 20 administration positions have been eliminated. 225 production employees have been laid off temporarily while crews retool the Coburg plant. It's all part of Monaco 's restructuring after closing its operations in Indiana . A Monaco spokesman says the company plans to call back the 225 laid-off production workers in the next few months. ?We're in a transition period?, said Monaco spokesman Craig Wanichek. ?We've better positioned ourselves to come out of stronger?. Wanichek says Monaco could be looking to add employees in the fall if the economy improves. T he 245 affected workers represent a little more than 10 percent of the Monaco workforce in Coburg . The layoffs are effective immediately.

That's too bad, but not surprising given the re-tooling necessary to absorb the Indiana operations in Coburg.

A quote from Kay Toolson, Monaco Chairman and CEO, in RV Business:

Once the fall elections are over and Americans see the direction that the U.S.is taking, Toolson said, he expects ?the RV industry will come back stronger than ever.?

Or, the money that might have been spent in the RV industry will then go into paying higher taxes.  :(
