Right now our plans are me flying back to FL on 23rd, then Jolene and I driving, leaving on the 26th to come back to QZ.  So, we would be going by on or aound 29th or 30th.  If we can fit t in, it would make a great lat night before getting back to QZ and working.

I mapped it, 10 to 77N, then some east to west roue back to 10.  Is this a good road, or is it better back down 77?  If it is good it only adds a few miles to the trip.

77N is exit 255 off I-10.  It is  CLOSED.  And it takes you through Downtown Tucson.  We took exit 248 Ina Rd East to Oracle/77N. There is nasty road construction on Oracle/77.  Be very careful.

Tangerine Rd exit 240 is a good road. And than go S on Oracle/77, about 1 mile and Left turn into the park.  At the traffic light.
The New Oro Valley Marketplace (where the new Walmart is)  will be on the right (W), and the park in on the left (E).
There are no signs indicating the park entrance.  They have been removed due to the road construction.

Barb,

Thank you for that information. I usually take Oracle to Tangerine, then so to the park (left turn into the park).

Richard and Linda Sharp plan to attend the New Years Official Rally. We will probably arrive on 12/28. We planned to attend the last two years but had emergencies come up at the last minute both years.

Were you at the rally in Stonington, CT?  That was a long time back at this point.

Looks like we may have a reunion of the Stonington, CT group at the New Years Rally.  We need a few more.  Come on down Jim Dick and Chet, (I think).  That was so long ago I can't even remember who all were there, but I do remember the park and "some" of the rest of it.  Could it have been the fall of 1995 or 1996 or thereabouts????  I do remember it was a VERY long time ago.  We were on our way to AZ from there, if I recall.  At least I seem to remember it being fall.  Maybe Jim remembers more, since he was the one who organized it....... ;)

Daisy,

I do remember the Stonington Rally!

Thinking of Stonington, has any heard from Rusty?

I believe it was 97.  Pretty sure, we bought that TC in  the spring that year, and I am sure it was before Jolenes surgery.  (98).  After Jim and I knowing one another from the Cycling forum for probably 7 years or so?  It was our first bike ride, at the RV forum rally.

I believe it was 97.

Bill,

You are correct. I checked my 1997 log book and found that we stayed at Highlands Orchard RV Park in North Stonington, CT from 9/4 to 9/8. I was thinking that it was before 1996 and only look in my log books up to that year. Should have checked 1997. We look forward to seeing you again either at Catalina State Park or Quartzsite or both.

We last saw Rusty and Helen about 4-5 years ago at Ft. Huachuca FamCamp.  We ran into them a couple of winters when we stayed there while they were on a little R&R between assignments with Habitat for Humanity.  I think they were with the FMCA group, but it could have been the SMART group also, I don't quite remember.  Haven't seen them since.  And if I remember correctly, they only had POP email or something similar.  Don't think they could connect to internet readily enough.  They were at Stonington, too,  as I recall.  Didn't we have about 10-12 rigs there?

Red,

I'm not aware of any tenure requirements for joining our rallies; Everyone is welcome, subject of course to space. In this case, it's first come first served, because the park doesn't take reservations. Signups are not usually required, but it's always good to let rally hosts, official or otherwise, know you're thinking of coming. Hopefully, Ken will see your message.

Red,

Of course you are welcome. We look forward to meeting you.

My only caution is that Catalina State Park does not take reservations. Last year they did not fill up, but near New Years there were only something like five open sites.

I will post available site information each day. I think that because of the economy there will be fewer people at the park this year.

Ken,

Do you have any idea where the group plans to meet? Linda and I drove up to Catalina State Park this afternoon and Campgrounds A & B were fairly full. Still quite a few spots scatter around but not many in one particular area. The Group Area was empty but doesn't look like there are any actual camping spots.

See everyone the 28th or 29th.

Richard,

I called Catalina State park today. The person on the phone asked the Ranger and he only said they were not close to full this morning. What that really means I have no idea as I was not talking directly to him.

I will call back the day before Chrismas and check on the status.

Last year we were on the south side of the B campground.

Looking back to last year, when we arrived the south side was maybe half full, with fewer people on the north side. The A campground was closed last year.

Ken,

I agree neither Campground A nor B were close to being full. However, there probably were not more than two or three areas where there was more than three sites together which were empty. The empty sites were fairly evenly scatter around both A & B. Since there is a two week limit on stays, who knows what the status will be towards the end of the month. The ranger told us they do not start filling up until after the first of the year. We will watch for your postings as to the area where we will stay this year.

Richard,

Thanks for the info. Last year we were strung out along the outer two roads on the south side. This year will depend on where we can get the most site close together.

Thanks Ken. We had to miss last year (Linda's father) and the year before (new granddaughter) and I didn't know where the group was located. Let's hope that we can all get reasonably close together.

Unfortunately, we will have to miss this year's unofficial rally but at least year's, we were parked at one end of the group with a lot of "outsider" rigs in between. It wasn't that far or difficult to walk to the other end of where we were strung out.
