Need help on how to replace a roof vent?

I have to replace a roof vent and am short on time. It has a garbage bag covering it now and it ihas been leaking, but would like to get this done. has anyone done this and how easy was it and how long dod ittake? Any items I need?

Here's an illustrated article in our library on re-sealing a skylight or roof vent. I wasn't in any hurry that day, and it probably took me 2-3 hours, although I probably spent more time cleaning off the old caulk than I needed to. If I replaced, I'd expect to spend an hour or so longer.  *

If you're really in a hurry, you could use some Eternabomd tape to seal things up. But don't plan on taking the stuff off again any time soon.
 
The vent lid is replaceable. If only the plastic is broken, just get a new lid. It's easy enough. You might have to order it online, though. Most dealers don't carry them.
