Anyone planning on going to the Rally in Indio in January? Mike and I are planning on going to this one. We'll be in Anza Borrego through Christmas, then maybe Salton Sea, then the rally, then Quartzsite.....such a busy life  :D

We're tracking each other ;D  Probably not Anzo Borrego or Salton Sea, but definitely Indio and QZ. DV afterward?

Wendy:

I hope to make it. We will be in Surprise but need to resolve our winter plans.

We're hoping to be in Indio for the rally.  I think we'll be in Mesa, AZ again through December and then to Indio Jan 7-11.  Might then head over to Laughlin for a few days before going to Quartzsite Jan 17-25.  Sounds like a good plan for now anyway.  ;D

We're getting to the holding area on Tuesday, 1/6 then into the rally when they start parking rigs.

How about a Happy Hour one evening when we're all there and see how the schedule breaks down? Or several Happy Hours :)

We drove by the fairgrounds today on our way back to the RV from lunch at Olive Garden and it doesn't look like there's a darn thing happening. Of course, I know that it will all be ready for us when we get there and everything will flow nicely but you sure couldn't tell today that a huge rally is getting there in a few days.

Instead of the holding area we are meeting other friends at Trump's 29 Casino either Monday or Tuesday night if you would like free parking.

Just one Happy Hour?8)

Well, only one happy hour per day  :D

How early do they start parking people at the rally? Depending on when they start parking rigs, we could just as easily stay here at Salton Sea with hookups or spend Tuesday night at Trump's 29.

I'm waiting to hear from Terry B. The website says they are going to start parking Wednesday but Betty says he gets in early.

We've been parked at the Fairgrounds since yesterday, but will be moved in the next day or two to our "permanent" site. Most of the rigs on site are advance crew and national/area officers. Early parking starts on Sunday afternoon, I believe, at a cost of $15/nite thru Tuesday nite. First day of parking included in the rally fee is Wednesday, but since activities start Wednesday morning, coming in Monday or Tuesday is advised. I heard that over 1,450 coaches have been pre-registered. I also have heard that electric will be available for any that want it, but I see some large open fields without power laid out yet.

Let me hear from anybody went you get here. We're ready for some happy hours <G>.

Dang, Bernie, we drove right by there yesterday and again today !!

Is electric included in the rally fee?

Will they wait until Wednesday morning to start moving people to their regular spots or will they move folks from the holding area sooner, like on Tuesday afternoon? I know in Pomona, they moved people from the holding area to the regular parking area as fast as they could regardless of the day the people were supposed to be parked.

Electric is extra, not sure what it is this year but it was $30 for the rally in years' past. If you are parked in an electric area and want electric, you go to registration and pay the fee and get a tag to put on your power cord near the plug in. Nothing complicated. But the power isn't turned on until Wed. morning IIRC.

There was a flea market in the holding area last nite and that should be clear by now. The holding area should be available after noon today and you will be parked in your permanent location either immediately or by Tuesday. They collect the $15/nite early fee when you arrive at the holding area.

Thanks Bernie. I guess that's what the "Ty Wrap" is that the paperwork tells you to remove from your power cord? We wondered what the heck that was. Is there a separate generator area and a separate solar area like in Pomona? Is there anything exciting happening on Wednesday? Is Marlene doing a craft seminar? I'm just full of questions, aren't I?

We're going out to Painted Canyon tomorrow and hike Ladder Canyon but will probably head to the holding area on Tuesday after we wash the motorhome in the park's boat washing area.

See you in a day or two.

I guess that there are generator only areas since they are ruling that generators cannot be used in electric areas, even if the power is out :-\ ??? ??? ???

Marlene will be doing 2 craft seminars but we don't know the schedule yet, probably won't have that for a day or two. Call us when you get here.

Wendy:

I talked to Terry B yesterday and he is going to the casino Monday night and going in Tuesday AM. He says they stay in the holdng area but have electric???  We did not sign up for electric but I guess you take a spot and then go pay for the tie wrap.

We have a couple of other coaches from Washington meeting Tuesday night and going in Wednesday AM so I guess we will be arriving then if you are interest red/ We will probably drive over from Surprise Tuesday afternoon and spend the night at one of the casinos.

OK, they finally moved us to our permanent spot. Well, you looked for Waldo, now look for Bernie and Marlene ;D ;D Its even better than Pomona. If you go from the Taj Mahal (vendor building) to the Commerce Bldg. (registration, entertainment, coffee) you walk right past us.

Please don't tell me you're getting free electric again ????

Sounds like your place is perfect for Happy Hour  :D

Nope, but I do have 50A service, water and sewer ;)

Sounds good to me, tho there isn't much space between coaches here. Not sure yet how usable the space behind us would be.

Wendy & I arrived at the Indio Rally and ended up in the row behind Bernie & Marlene on the grass.
It was decided our site was the best for Happy Hours and we had the first one tonight.
We will have another Happy Hour tomorrow starting at 4pm at our Handicapped # 1 in back of Shalimar.
Come join us if you need more info you can e-mail either of us or call 970-560-0656.
Mike
