Looked out the window this afternoon and saw this "steamboat/paddlewheeler". It's a tribute on the part of the owner to the sternwheelers that used to ply CA Delta waters. Several of those old boats are still around the Delta, including the Delta King, now a floating hotel permanently berthed at Old Town Sacramento.

Thanks Barb. That's something we might check out if we're visiting the kids.

It was kinda cute Barb. OTOH another neighbor prefers to take his plane for a ride on the water, then parks (berths?) it behind his house.

Does the Delta Queen still ply the Ohio and Mississippi? A floating National Monument that not only escaped the bone yard, but also escaped requirements to be refirtted to comply with all the current regulatons for such vessles. Was amazed to see it pull into Memphis when I first arrived there in '69. My folks used to ride it, or the "King", between SF (orwhever it berthed) and Sacramento in early 1930s.
Tweedy now in Fort Collins,CO

FYI

The historic Delta King riverboat is a completely renovated, historic 1920?s riverboat that plied the Sacramento River between Sacramento and San Francisco from 1927 to 1940. The Delta King and her sister ship the Delta Queen were the finest paddle wheelers of the day; offering charm, grace, elegance, fine dining and live entertainment.

Today, the icon of Sacramento is permanently moored in downtown Old Sacramento and offers a retreat to a bygone era, with an emphasis on contemporary amenities (such as free wi-fi). A dedicated crew, committed to first class service, makes your stay aboard the Delta King a memory in the making for you and your guests.

Thanks Mark. We've stayed aboard the Delta King on several occasions, including having the Captain's quarters (the only 2-level cabin on board) on one occasion.
