What is everybody's opinion on just blowing the lines vs pumping antifreeze, as far as fresh water lines are concerned. I understand the need to drain the water heater and put antifreeze in the traps and holding tanks.

Personally I blew out the lines and then pumped antifreeze through the system. 4 - 6 gallons of antifreeze is cheap compared to a repair because all the water wasn't blowed out. This is the first year in many that I winterized the hard way but I used the same procedure I used when we were North of Vermont.
