I recently added a camper shell to the back of my truck.  It's a Leer, the extra tall model.

I'd like to be able to use it for overnite trips when I don't take my 5th wheel.  I realize I could just put a mattress on the truck bed itself, but came across this idea and am thinking about building one.

Any pro/con?  Any other ideas for having a bed in the back.

Why mess with all of that, even though it looks cool. Just use an air mattress. Also, there are tents that fit in the bed plus there is a tent that will work with a van ot cap. Check them out at Cabelas.com.
