We have been towing an 18' Aljo Aly travel trailer with our 2004 Dodge Ram with no problems and have had a great time with it over the years we have had it.  Now we are upgrading to a 2000 Mallard 235M Fifth wheel.  The sellers are including a Lil Rocker hitch that I would like to install in the truck.  It seems that there are two kits available to install this hitch.  One requires drilling through the top and bottom of the frame and the other is about $100 more and clamps to the frame requiring holes be drilled through the side of the frame.  Is one better than the other?  This is our first fifth wheel and I would like to do everything the safest way possible.  Thanks for any advice.

I don't think there is any difference safety-wise. You choose depending on what access you have to the frame for drilling the holes.

We used a Lil Rocker with two different fifth wheels and two different trucks and found it to be an excellent hitch. Ours bolted top to bottom rather than side-to-side.
