Autoformer pros and cons

LOL! Back to the original debate!  I still don't buy that an Autoformer makes anything worse for anybody else. The total power (watts) being consumed remains the same (except for whatever small power loss occurs in the transformer).  The a/c consumes the same power (watts), using a higher voltage but lower amps.  The source amps and voltage remains the same because the watts being drawn through it remain the same. The only delta is whatever heat loss occurs in the transformer, and I believe that to be negligible.

I don't expect that anybody here will change their opinion, so we will have to just disagree.
 
I think that's the final word, so I'm locking this topic.  7 years is long enough.
 
Here's my original explanation asserting that the use of an autoformer with inductive loads (such as a/c motors) results in lower current drawn from the source. But I realize I won't change anyone's mind  ;)
