John, we're parked on it right now while the new stone on our site sets up.  Should be good to go in a week or so.

Welcome to Red too.  We've spent a lot of winters in the Phoenix area, but not this year.

I'm glad to see the Winnebago sub forum.  Good idea!  ;D

At the beginning of July, we had a 32 foot high profile Bighorn fifth wheel with 2 slides.

Before July was over we were in a 2008 24'9" Itasca Navion IQ 24CL with no slides. Our first trip in it was 25 or so days to Wisconsin and back.  We've also had a couple of other local trips.

After the larger fifth wheel, it takes a little getting used to, but we love it and I'm pretty sure we'll be doing more traveling with something smaller.

I've posted a couple of images below.

Wow - lots of Winnie owners surfacing here  :D  it's busier than I imagined.

I need to again thank Tom and the rest of the staff for being receptive to this idea.  This should be a win-win for us Winnie owners and the forum as more discover our little 'corner.'

Hi John,

Welcome as the moderator of the Winnebago sub-forum.

We have a 34' 1993 Itasca Suncruiser purchase in Nov of 1992. It just turned 126K miles and has served us very well. We spend winters at Voyager RV Resort in Tucson and summers at home in Rochester, NY. I retired from Kodak in 1991 and we have been spending 6-7 months of the year on the road every year since retirement.

Mike - we have been love with the Navion and View ever since it was introduced. I'll bet down-sizing *is* difficult.  Our last house was 2900 feet with a pool, our new one is 1200.  It's like trying to stuff five pounds of stuff in a three pound bag  :D

I'll bet down-sizing *is* difficult.

Down-sizing wasn't difficult at all when faced with the choice of very little RVing unless we got something different in order to reduce my wife's fifth wheel induced anxiety.     :(

She just couldn't get over being overwhelmed by that big thing looming over us as we traveled down the road -- and when pulling into a "tilted" campsite, I couldn't quite convince her that the fiver was not top-heavy and that it wouldn't tip over.

Now, with the iQ, RVing is the adventure that we had planned on for many, many years.

One of the nice things about a small motor-home is that we don't take us much stuff along that we don't need.  ::)

Hi everyone from up here in northern Iowa. We're in a winter wonderland. A little over an hour west of Forest City, IA. Trying to make it to Lichtsinn's for some service on the Meridian before we leave for AZ after this first of the year. Difficult to do, because of the snow and terrible cold weather. Really enjoy the info on the forum.

Hi - glad you stopped by!

This forum is for owners, would-be owners of any Winnebago Industries product - Winnebago, Itasca, ERA, etc., or anybody!

Just a few conventions to follow here:

Be nice, no running with scissors, no advertising, no politics, criticize ideas and not people, etc.  If you have to stop and think if something is inappropriate, it probably is  ;)  Naturally being good citizens of our rvforum family, we also play by their rules.

When posting to this forum, please keep the subject matter limited to Winnebago-specific topics.  For a couple of examples:  questions about a generic microwave or cooktop should NOT be posted here.  Problems with a Norcold fridge on a slide probably DOES belong here since there are some unique issues with Winnie-designed venting.  Topics about your Evolution chassis probably DO belong here unless it is a generic tire issue.

If the topic shouldn't belong in the Winnie forum, I'll try to contact you before I move the thread. Don't worry, we'll figure it out.  Feel free to email me if you need to discuss something privately:  john@rvforum.net

I encourage you to edit your profile by clicking on the "Profile" button at the top of the page and including your rig details in your "signature" - it makes it easier for everybody to know what you drive.  We are a friendly bunch here, so please consider adding your name somewhere in your signature.  I think it's more personable to address a Rick or Martha than a DarthVader0227.

We're glad you're here!  Thanks for joining a new virtual family with us  ;D

Here is a welcome from Tom, provider of good things, and big kahuna:

"I'll add my welcome to Winnebago owners who have recently arrived here. I realize that this forum format is somewhat different from what you may have been used to, and that it will take a little time to become familiar with the new surroundings. We have a few things that might help you find your way around:

Navigation tips & how-to's.Navigation tips & how-to's.

Using the forum efficiently.Using the forum efficiently.

When all else fails, feel free to ask on the forum navigation board, and one of the staff will be pleased to help. Don't be shy, since every one of us was new to this software at a point in time. Some of us, myself included, are still learning to find our way around.

In case you missed it, we have a Search ButtonSearch button in the toolbar above."

Hello Folks!  Quite a few familiar names here in the Winnebago group.  I expect that John Canfield and the RVforum staff will keep this site friendly and apply common sense which seems to be lost in the iRV2.  Been an active iRV2 member for 6.5 yrs and have seen it go south pretty fast.

I did a little intro in the "Introduce Yourself" topic HERE

It's nice to read some replies from those familiar names that I haven't heard from for quite a few weeks.

Take care,

Hey Bill!
I just noticed your posts tonight as I was poking around still trying to learn the format of this site. Welcome to the "un-dark" side!

I have to say I like the operation of the "other" place (like being able to link pix from external sites), and general operation but won't miss the attitudes. I see you're going to Q? We're planning on being there as well just off Palmosa Road. Way less dust! Once we get tired of the show we might waste a little time Geocaching.

Hi Jeff,

PMFJI, just thought I should explain that we have that capability here, but disabled it, due partly to abuse. A separate, but now diminishing issue was that of forum members on slow connections &/or limited cell minutes. Having photos attached (or links embedded in messages, as some folks do) gives members the option to download images or not. Maybe we could revisit this issue, although I won't commit to changing it right now.

Bill (Duner), I am THRILLED to see you over here.  Most of us here dont miss that other board in the slightest!  I was also a member there for 4 years with over 1,400 posts, but have posted my last post over there.....forever!   ::)

I would be very glad to see you post some of your spreadsheets about the Workhorse Brake problems...either in my Workhorse Brake Problems thread, or one of your own.  I believe that data you have put together is VERY valuable, and members here would find this very interesting.

I'm glad you found your way over here, and most likely we have John Canfield to thank for that.  I'm thrilled to have this forum as my new home!!!  ;D

 ;D :D - too funny!

Hey Bill - glad you made it over here!  Look around the board - there is quite a bit to explore.  Jane and I will be heading west later in the month, so we'll be bumping into you before too long.

Let anybody know if you have any questions about the board.

When you get the time, we need your tech posts over here!

John et.al.:

I have been a regular on the IRV2 Winnebago forum for several years and just saw the link to this site and forum yesterday, February 21st.  Thanks for undertaking this project.   I still have a lot to learn, I hope.

I have a 2004 Winnebago Journey 39W and live in Sun City West, AZ.  We attend local and distant rallies and use our Journey as a getaway home from the valley of the sun during the awful summers.

I hope to listen, learn and perhaps offer something I might have learned during the past 9 years and three Winnebago/Itasca products.

Thanks, again, John.

Hey, John!  I may be a little slow, but I finally found you guys. After the big blowup "over there", I kinda dropped out of foruming (new word) for a while. Found I missed it, but when I went back to the other place it just wasn't the same....

Anyway, glad I found this group and look forward to spending time here. Now I gotta start figuring out how everything works here...

Hey BucknJeff!  Good to see you over here!  ;D

I noticed you have an additional "roof" air....love to hear about it.  There is a recent basement air post in the Winnie forum....maybe your could expand on this there?

Hey-ho guys!

I was hoping you all (that's Texan for youse guys) would find your way over here.  The dribble of the last couple of months is quickly turning into a flood  ;)

I'm on the verge of doing a rooftop air - I'll probably have a question or two for you.

Bill, If Im not mistaken you came up with the step by step instructions on removing the basement air. If that was you I want to say thank you again. It was unbelievable easy to do with your step  by step instructions.  I printed 2 copies

Well, this is quite a bit of a slow response, but I guess better late than never.

Hey John C, where would I find the steps to upload a file to the forum library?  I'd like to upload the 3.2 meg pdf for the Basement A/C Removal Procedure.  Or is this something only the staff can do?  The file can be downloaded from my website HERE

Expect to be able to spend more time at "The" forum here.

Take care,
Bill

Your explanation w/pictures of how to remove the A/C is one of the best I've ever seen on ANY subject!  I just wish I wasn't so old and weak so I could do it myself.  Unfortunately, it goes in on the 21st of this month for the same procedure to see if there is something that can be done to improve it's efficency.  I'm more concerned that the ducting may have come loose under the rear cap.  If that's happened, I'll just have to continue to live with warmer temps in the coach this summer.

John,

Thanks for starting the sub forum for Winnebago owners. Is there a link or somewhere that I need to go to on the forum to be an offical member?

Thanks,

Tim

Tim - you're in!  Actually we don't have a register, but if you own a Winnebago Industries product, we'll claim you.  ;D

John -
Just registered in your Forum, but having trouble listing anything in"my profile".  Tried to add to "My Signature" and couldn't figure out how to type anything in that square.  I know I must be doing something wrong but don't know what.  My computer savy is very limited, I surprised I was even able to get registered in your Forum, but did manage.  Looking forward to your excellent Winnebago advise and information as much as I enjoyed it in IRV2 forum.

Hi Wagonmaster!

A big howdy from rvforum - we're glad you joined up.  Please look around and feel at home here.

Click on the "Profile" icon at the top of the page and then click on the appropriate selection in "Modify Profile", and then make your changes.  Then click on "Change Profile" and that should be that.

Finally found you John, wondered where you headed off to a few months ago.  Another unnamed forum sure got quiet and I missed your input.  Glad I found your personal page with the link here.

Hey Steve!!  Not wanting to cause any problems or create any animosity, I just faded away like the proverbial old soldier.  We have a dandy home over here with a great bunch of active posters, both refugees and long-time rvforum.net members.  You will find this forum is like the good old days of Bill/Bob running the show at the other place.

Have a good look around the forum and let any of the staff know if you have questions about the board operation.

Hope to see you around here frequently!

Hi all,
I am new to the forum as well as RVing itself. I have some questions that maybe some of you can help me with. I have a 2005 Winnebago Adventurer 37B which I purchased new and I have had quite a few things go wrong with it in this short time. I have replaced part of the transmission and the auto parking brake assembly. It has had numerous leaks ie, front passenger compartment, bedroom window, living room vent, 2 lower compartments, ( I did find the fixes for that on this forum, thank you) and now the latest a leak somewhere behind the refrigerator. I have had a ghost of sorts. While I am driving down the road, all of the sudden, all of the warning alarms and lights go off and the gauges just die for a brief time then they just as suddenly come on again. I have asked a couple of dealer's about my ghost and none have any idea what that is all about. Once this same phenomenon occurred, the engine died on the NJ Turnpike while raining!! Managed to pull over, shut the key off, then started up again went on my way with a few more grey hairs. Here are my latest problems, I just went on a trip (No trip complete without SOMETHING happening), and the windshield wipers went on and stayed on even when I shut them off. I figured that the connector was getting soaked but my goodness isn't that what they are designed for?? I asked the dealer about that and they said that yes, this is the problem, a design flaw. This brings me to what happened the day I returned home from my latest trip. I was driving and the serpentine belt shredded off at which time I had no power steering or brakes. That was fun! I limped it about 2 miles to the dealership once again to be greeted by Bob, the Service Manager, with, "Weren't you just in here?" I said that I was and that now I think I have a really big problem. We went out to the coach and there we found a huge puddle of antifreeze as well. He said that it might be the heater core and that the belt might have pierced the radiator.  :o
I am pretty sure this is not a cheap fix and have now put a sizeable chunk of change into this motorcoach since it is out of warranty. My question is, is this normal? Have I made a mistake in choosing RVing? Is this just a Winnebago thing? Is this a lemon? Or should I just leave it on the dealer's lot and trade it in for a Fleetwood?? I really love RVIng so I don't want to give up but I'm just not sure my wallet can handle the overload. Please Please Please stop the bleeding!! Did I mention that the coach only has 22000 miles on it??? This really is only a portion of the problems encountered with this WInnebago.
Thank you all in advance and desperately looking for answers.
Tracey

Hi Tracey,

First - we're really glad to have you join our little group - welcome!

Sounds like you have mostly chassis problems than need to be addressed by Ford or Workhorse.  I'm thinking there is a whole lot more to the story than what we have here in your post.  We ordered our Horizon in February of 2005 and we had the usual this an' that problems, but we can depend on our Horizon to get us from point "A" to point "B" with no drama (at least that's the way it is after 44,000 miles.)  Maybe the Freightliner chassis vs. the others is a difference - don't know, but we're a happy camper.

I have no answer for your problems - it is a shame you have had such an 'interesting' owner experience.  My only advice is to have the best people work through your problems - I am thinking about Winnebago factory service for the house part.  Maybe somebody else has some pearls about chassis service.

Before you think about trading for a Fleetwood, you better check their viability as a business - last I heard, they were in dire straights.

Thank you John,
I have consulted with a very reputable mechanic and he will be assisting me in the Workhorse problems.
Oh and I was just kidding about the Fleetwood........
I will continue to check out this site for more valuable insights into my other RV issues too.
Thanks again,
Tracey

Hi All,

Well I took the winter off from the forms and I guess I'm a little slow on getting back in. Glad I found you all. I see some very familiar names here and know I will get some great advice from some very knowledgeable folks.
