Building fire rings is probably easier than hauling the washtubs, too. BTW Betty, I thought he meant the tubs were there, too.

Oh sigh..............lost wsh tubs.  At anyrate a reminder to folks to wear old jackets as the fire can pop and burn nice cinder holes  in your warm gear.  Spoken from  experience.

What is "PM me" (sorry, kind of new to this!)?

Sorry, Jane -- that's for Personal Message. You can do that or email me. Note the icons under my picture to the left. Run your cursor over each one to display text of it's funtion. I'm on line plus get email from my Smart Phone most of the time so email would be OK.

Don't know about Death Valley after Qtz. I'd kind of like to do DV before Qtz and then head to San Diego after Qtz but we haven't made any plans yet except December at Anza-Borrego and FMCA Indio and Quartzsite in January.

Wendy,

This evening at an abbreviated (chilly) happy hour at Catalina State Park there was a discussion about a Death Valley trip after the Quartzsite rally. Are you and Mike still considering leading a group to DV? There seems to be quite a bit of interest.

We're still debating. Right now, we're thinking about heading south from Qtz, doing an Algodones run, spending some time in Yuma, and then heading east across the southern end of Arizona and New Mexico before the FMCA rally in Abq. We're almost for sure doing DV next year because there's a Coke convention in Las Vegas in February.

We can have an interesting discussion around the campfire in Qtz.

See some of you there, some of you in Indio.

Hi Bob,

I was hoping to make it this year but it is not looking good. My surgery seemed to go fine until a couple of weeks ago, Now I have some fluid on the lung and am still having some bladder problems. With all the Dr. appointments I have scheduled it doesn't look like we will be able to get there this year.

Please say hello to everyone for us and we will just start planning for 2011.

Take care my friend and stay healthy,

Sorry to read that you will not be attending - but it appears they are taking good care of you, Jerry. Get better soon and yes, we will look forward to seeing you in 2011. The way time seems to move along lately, the won't be too far down the line for all of us.

Hi Bob,

I had a chance to visit your web site and certainly enjoyed the information.  As a point of information  I spoke to Fred and Daisy today ( who are flattered to be featured  on the home page)  and they informed me the first Quartzsite RV Forum Rally happened in 1994 so if my math is correct  the Forum Quartzsite Rally may be  16 years old. Daisy indicated there were 42 coaches in attendance ( in and out) one year.  Boy oh boy what a tradition, what a social phenomenon, what a Forum.  We look forward to  being there trying to look young.

Bob,

Please add Dean Stock to the roster.  I will be arriving one day late, on the 17th.  As of now it will be just me and possibly Sherlock the cat.  I am still working on Linda.  It sounds like it is going to be a good group this year.  I am looking forward to it.

You and Sherlock keep working on her....it's a grand bunch of people and we have lots of fun. If she really doesn't like it, she can take the toad and go home and never go again.

From there click the Selection option. The numbering is bulleted so may not appear when selected, however, should show up on the printed copy.

Have corrected the numbers.  Actually, my math is pretty good. It's my 3rd grade arithmetic that causes me problems. :)

Actually Bob, after getting the cobwebs out of the brain cells, I think the first QZ rally was in Jan. 1995, and there were 11 people in our non-slide Bounder for pot-luck.  Fred and I, and Terry Brewer are the only "charter members" still on the forum.  We didn't keep the lists of attendees at all the ensuing rallies, as being full-timers for awhile, we didn't think it particularly something to keep track of.  But now, seeing the longivity of this rally, I wish I'd have at least kept a computer file.  It would have been fun to see the names again.

I also want to thank you (which is long overdue) for the very nice headline attention.  As Betty said we are flattered and appreciative.  And never in our wildest dreams of those early days, would we have thought this Rally would endure so.  Who would want to come back to this dusty, desolate place on the planet year after year after year............. :-X    ;)

We were there for the second in January 1996.  We bought our Bounder at the end of the rally in February.  I remember Lucy and George Akers, Terry and Betty Brewer, the Zambeninis and you and Fred were there.   Possibly Don and Betty Jordan?  Russ Mahoney?  John Wilson?  CJ Allen?  Too much strain for the old brain to remember accurately, I guess.

You two surely did start something wonderful!  ;D

After leaving Catalina, we spent the night in Quartzsite before coming to Indio.  We were in town so drove down the wash to Area 541.  From the north side (Main St.) we go down into the wash next to Al's pizza and the BBQ place and then cross under I-10 in the wash.  Someone must have decided they didn't want all of us driving down the wash because it's considerably more difficult this year.  You can see the tracks of a lot of heavy equipment and they've placed huge rocks in the arches under the freeway through which we pass on that route!   If you go that way stay to the east side of the wash because the western openings are blocked.  Basically we can use what we'll call arches 4 and 5 with 1 being the easternmost.  Also, because of the drought the sand is deep.  We left the wash at the first gully south of where the big red and white tent is located.  I have to wonder why they would want to keep us from driving in the wash when the traffic on the streets is so heavy during the RV show.

No one is at 541 yet.
