I would like to tow a 2001 Xterra 4X4 on all fours. I believed shifting transfer case to neutral was all that was required. Further research suggests manual locking hubs are also required. Any suggestions??? Thanks

We towed an '01 Xterra 4x4 auto for 7 1/2 years and over 90,000 miles. It requires a REMCO Towing drive shaft disconnect. With the disconnect, you leave the tranny in park, the transfer case in 2H, pull the handle on the disconnect and off you go. You still need to hook up your electric, safety chains and supplemental brakes like any other toad but nothing else. Oh, you leave the ignition key in the first notch up from key remove.

Shifting the transfer case to neutral is NOT recommended and there are no manual locking hubs available or needed.
